Katrina Meant "Pure." Gustav Means "Staff Of The Gods." How Re-Assuring.

The word Katrina means “pure.” [1]

Following Hurricane Katrina some folks made a verb out of it and implied the storm was “purifying” sinful New Orleans, punishing the city for it wickedness.

I think that kind of logic, though convenient for those who still believe in magic, is utter nonsense.

That being said, I noticed today that a new storm is brewing in the Caribbean.

Name: Gustav. [2]

Meaning: “staff of the gods.”[3]

“Staff” as in the thing the “gods” use to hit people with.

Not exactly re-assuring.

One piece of advice to the citizens of New Orleans: if it looks like Gustav is coming anywhere near the city, run.
