Is anyone else having trouble buying 3-packs of these 3 flavors of Orbit gum?

in Random Observations

Ever try the Mint Mojito, Citrusmint, and Raspberrymint flavors of Orbit gum made by Wrigley’s? [1]

You should: these 3 flavors are absolutely fantastic.

Until about 9 months ago I could easily get a 3-pack of any of these flavors for $2.99 plus tax at a variety of stores.

Then, all of sudden, the 3-packs for these 3 flavors disappeared.

I can still buy the flavors but now they’re only available in single packets for $1.19 each.

3 of these total $3.57 without the tax.

That’s a 19% premium on these flavors which, in my opinion, are the best ones they have.

Hmmm…

But before I rang the price fixing bell I figured I’d write this post and see if anyone else is having the same problem.

Today I went to Walgreen’s and sure enough, just like in K-mart, Wal-mart, and all the grocery stores around here I could buy 3-packs of Orbit Spearmint, Sweetmint, Wintermint, Peppermint, and Bubblemint.

But Mint Mojito, Citrusmint, and Raspberrymint in a 3-pack?

Forget it.

If you want 3 of these flavors you’ll have to buy them one-by-one and eat the 19% you could’ve saved if they came in a 3-pack.

As a side note, my extensive (and scientific I might add) market research would also seem to indicate that in order for a flavor of gum to be official you must use the word mint when naming it.

Can you say “Promotional 3 Packs”?

Sad day. I’ve always stuck to bubblemint or sweet mint myself, but I feel for you.
