As a Ron Paul supporter in 2008 I was annoyed to see major republican elected officials and operatives take part in the April 15, 2009 tea party protests across the country.
I was planning on attending my local event until I learned some well-seasoned local republicans were scheduled to speak.
Where were you “outraged” defenders of the constitution when Ron Paul ran as a republican candidate for President in 2008?
Where were you as President George W. Bush trampled the constitution and ran up the national deficit?
For republicans to now represent themselves as pro-market, limited government, fiscally conservative defenders of liberty outraged at Presidential over-reach and worried about mortgaging our future away is downright ludicrous.
Despite your rhetoric, dear republicans, you have, sans President Obama’s tax hikes, just given the country 8 years of what you condemn (though I do admit, President Obama has taken fiscal irresponsibility to heights unmatched by even republicans).
That is why this organic grass-roots movement began in the first place.
We had nowhere else to go!
And the time for reconciliation has come and gone.
Republicans wanted nothing to do with this movement and the ideas for which it stands during the 2008 presidential campaign.
You made your choice.
Now go your own way.
We will go ours.
