McCain Should Pick Huckabee As VP. Promise To Make Ron Paul Secretary of the Treasury.
So Senator Barack “Damn, I just introduced Joe Biden as the next President of the United States when I’m the nominee” Obama has made his VP pick. [1]
Now it’s Senator John “I can’t keep track of how many houses I have but trust me, I can run the country just fine” McCain’s turn. [2]
What should McCain do?
1. Lock up the southern and evangelical votes by picking ex-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as his Vice President.
· Huckabee beat McCain in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kansas, and Louisiana in the primaries and, if you heard him speak in the debates, sounded more “Presidential” than any of the candidates, including McCain. [3]
2. Gun for what I call the “Alamo Vote” (they have no intention of surrendering) by promising that if he win’s, he’ll make Texas Congressman Ron Paul Secretary of the Treasury.
· Paul didn’t win any states in the primaries but his “damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead” style espousal of the Constitution, fiscal conservatism, protection of individual liberties, and smaller government has tapped a deep vein of conservative anger that, unless brought within the Republican fold, will cost McCain votes in November.
And if he could remember how many houses he owns that would help too.
