Why McCain and Obama Both Suck.

According to an article I read yesterday titled “Federal deficit soaring, but McCain, Obama offer no answers,” the federal budget deficit for fiscal year 2008 is now projected to be a cool $407 billion, or about double what it was in fiscal year 2007 (the record is $413 billion in 2004). [1]

And as the article’s title implies, with less than 60 days to the election neither McCain nor Obama have offered a plan to stop spending more than we make as a nation. Read more

This Makes No Sense.

The U.S. government decided to step in and take control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac yesterday.

The U.S. stock market responded today by jumping higher: the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up about 290 points or 2.58% and the S&P 500 was up 25.48 or 2.05%

How can piling on more national debt to “bailout” Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac be considered a good thing for the American economy and American businesses? Read more

The Evacuation Of New Orleans Went Great. The Re-Entry Is Being Botched.

You have to give credit when credit is due.

Those who planned and orchestrated the recent evacuation of metro New Orleans in advance of Hurricane Gustav deserve great credit: by all accounts almost 2 million people were moved out of harm’s way within 48 hours with minimal loss of life.

Why Is Barack Obama Not Whipping John McCain?

8 out of 10 Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction, Republican approval ratings across the board are at their lowest levels since Watergate, the economy is headed south, foreclosures, gas prices, and the national deficit are at all time highs, we’re engaged in a very unpopular war, and our President likes to make up laws as he goes along.
