In honor of the 40th anniversary of the 1st moon landing below are the names of the 12 men who walked on the moon, in order, and the Apollo mission they flew.

Gene Cernan was the last human being to step on the moon.
The command module pilots were:
- Michael Collins (11)
- Richard Gordon (12)
- Stuart Roosa (14)
- Alfred Worden (15)
- Thomas Mattingly (16)
- Ronald Evans (17)
Jim Lovell and Fred Haise were to land on the moon on the ill fated Apollo 13 mission. Jack Swigert was the command module pilot.
In addition, 6 astronauts (Apollo 8 and Apollo 10) circled the moon but did not land:

- William Anders (8)
- Tom Stafford (10)

- Eugene Cernan (10)
Counting Haise & Swigert makes a total of 24 human beings who have ever left low Earth orbit.

I think you mean 25 human beings left low-earth orbit. There were nine missions with three crew members. Cernan and Lovell made repeat trips. So that’s 27-2=25.
John Young also made 2 trips (Apollo 10 & 16) therefore 27-3=24.
